The Beginning of the Marketing Memaw

Well, hello there, welcome to getting to know all about...well me! I will be your guide during this journey of discovery and excitement of how I went from a normal Memaw to a Marketing one. Let's start off with a bit of background.

So, like any other human being in the world I was born. For some it may not have been too long ago, but for others I am ancient (Just ask my kids.) I was born in the town of Lebanon, Oregon in the not-too-distant past... ok who am I kidding it was 46 years ago at the end of the 70s. I know there are some who may or may not know what that decade was like. Oh! I just remembered (old-timers trying to set in), my name is Jessica Pearcy. That is pronounced as Peer-sea if you are wondering, I know it doesn't look like it by the spelling, but I didn't get a choice in that. Anyways, where was I? That's right 1979. What a year, not that I remember much more than crying, eating, sleeping and making a mess in my britches (I was a baby I didn't have to do much!) I did get to grow up through the 80s, 90s and so on. I graduated from a small-town high school called Sweet Home High School, in the good old town of well Sweet Home, Oregon. Again, the brain power used to name the school was not on my shoulders. I graduated with honors in 1997. Isn't interesting how I was born in 79 and graduated in 97? Ok maybe not but it was worth the shot. I eventually around the time I graduated became a first-time mother. Now that is a whole other story that has some interesting twists, I will leave you with one word to make you wonder what it was...tumor.

By the time, I turned 22, I was not a mother of 2. Wow, I did a bit of rhyming there. I was the proud mother of a son and a daughter, frankly that was more than enough for me... last nerve! During this time, I worked various different jobs before finally deciding to go back to school and get an associate's degree in administrative medical assisting. Unfortunately, that didn't accomplish much more than what every college student deals with ... debt. I decided for the next 13 years to go back and continue working for a time as a caregiver and then eventually did some other odds and ends type of jobs. By the time I was 43, my son and his fiancée came over to the house and reminded me of how I would tell my kids "Don't make me a grandma before I am 40". Well as you have probably guessed, as I was 43, I was going to be the proud 'Memaw' to my very first grandchild, a grandson to be exact. Love my buggie so much. I get to watch my son grow up all over again since somehow my son cloned himself. Well time flies when you don't have to raise the kids yourself. Being a Memaw is the best!

Now that we have gotten through the years and highlights of my life, I am now working on a new degree. This time in Accounting Technology. I want to play with money besides my own. Alright that isn't the actual reason, but it sounded good. I actually decided to change my career course due to the job market. I have applied to many jobs over those last couple years and even with my background it wasn't enough. So, time for a change! Which is how we have gotten to where we are. Fingers crossed that it is worth all the extra learning. Next time, we can all discuss the many hobbies that my chaotic thought processes tend to put me though.

Since we have gotten a brief background of how I came to be let's delve a bit into why I chose to take this course. Well first off because it is a part of the curriculum, I have to learn for my accounting technology degree. I decided to do the healthcare track of the two-courses offered, as I already have some background in healthcare. Currently have one associates in Administrative Medical Assisting. Another reason I decided to take this class is to help me learn better ways to market the craft items I make and am adding into a small business portfolio. These range from a variety of things, including jewelry, keychains, magnets, and some decor items. I just love to create something from an idea of my own or even something that I feel I could improve and make cooler. Other than going back to school, working for someone and for myself, my passion is my family. There isn't anything I wouldn't do for them, human and furbaby included. (I got one too many furbabies. I blame my daughter!)
